Piedmont

Discover the best wines of Piedmont region that can be purchased online on VINOSO.Shop

Piedmont is one of the richest winemaking regions in Italy at least numerically thanks to the 42 DOC and 16 DOCG wines it boasts of red and white wines. The main red wines of Piedmont are Barolo, Barbera, Barbaresco and Dolcetto, while among white wines we see Moscato d'Asti, Asti Spumante and Arneis. The most important grapes from which these wines come are respectively Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and the white grape varieties of Arneis and Moscato. The Barbera grape is the most cultivated variety, just as the Barbera wine is the most consumed. Nebbiolo, on the other hand, is the noble grape of the Piedmont area, from which two of the most elegant wines are produced: Barolo and Barbaresco. Barolo is the most prestigious wine and is produced exclusively in eleven municipalities of the Langhe. To be able to bear this name, Barolo follows strict rules: it must age at least 38 months, starting from 1 November of the year of production of the grapes, 18 of which in wooden barrels; the term Riserva appears on the label after five years of aging. In our online wine shop we have chosen to keep a great depth of Barolo wine cellar.
