TASTING NOTES
Both winter and spring temperatures in the 2019 vintage were cooler than usual. The vegetative cycle, which started late, then accelerated from the end of May when temperatures rose rapidly. The summer weather was sunny and stable until the end of the harvest, which was excellent in all respects. The healthy, ripe grapes, previously selected in the vineyard, were brought to the cellar and vinified in stainless steel wine vats at a controlled temperature, favouring prolonged contact of the skins with the must. Malolactic fermentation takes place immediately after alcoholic fermentation, also in tanks. Ageing is for 24 months in French oak barrels (50% new, 50% one-year old) and 6 months in bottles. The wines of the 2019 Bolgheri vintage are very balanced and already show great ageing potential. Definitely one of the best Bolgheri vintages, on a par with iconic vintages such as 1998, 2008, 2015. A serious red with a compact, fresh palate of blue fruit, berries and hints of toasty oak, smoke and chocolate. It is full-bodied with a tight palate and finely crafted tannins. A very elegant Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. This Millepassi Magnum 2019 is sold with its original wooden box, making this bottle perfect as an important gift.
ORIGIN OF THE NAME
Millepassi is produced by the vineyards located in Bolgheri in Migliarini, the toponym originates from "milium" measure Roman itinerary, corresponding to a thousand steps (m 1480), and had been attributed to the farm, because it was crossed by the ancient Via Emilia.
