GRAPE VARIETY
RIESLING 100%
TASTING NOTES
This wine is produced from 100% Riesling grapes from the Grand Cru classified site of the Altenberg Vineyard in Bergheim owned by Gustave Lorentz. The dominant soil of this area is clayey and calcareous; the vines from which this wine is obtained are very old, between 30 and 50 years. Pride of the Bergheim winegrowers, the Altenberg has been renowned for its fine wines since the end of the 13th century. Altenberg Grand Cru wines are known for the perfect balance between their subtle and distinctive nose and their powerful and virile body. They are the gastronomic wines par excellence. They age at least 10/15 years. This Riesling Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim 2017 is a study in contrasts. In the glass, shows a beautiful color, which brings back to the bright and lively straw yellow. Petrol and a hint of smoke come through on the nose, accented by delicate lemon zest and white blossom. The texture is rich and mouthfilling, but powerful acidity cuts right through and carries into a long, zesty finish.
