TASTING NOTES
Basilica San Martino, a Chianti Classico Gran Selezione wine, has been produced since 1985. The vineyard, spanning 3.82 hectares, faces south-southeast and is named after the ancient church of San Martino in Cecione. The wine is crafted from a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grapes. Notably, the vineyard follows organic cultivation practices. The 2018 vintage in Chianti Classico was highly regarded. The overall weather conditions were favorable, with a cold and rainy winter that provided the plants with ample water reserves. The subsequent warm and dry spring facilitated early flowering and ideal grape ripening. The summer was marked by sunny days, moderate temperatures, and cooler nights that helped preserve the desired acidity in the grapes. Autumn was also characterized by optimal weather conditions, allowing for a smooth and successful harvest of healthy and well-ripened grapes. As a result, the 2018 vintage produced wines of exceptional quality. These wines are noted for their elegant, balanced, and fruit-forward characteristics, along with silky tannins and vibrant acidity. Considered true oenological treasures, the 2018 wines can be enjoyed from the beginning but are also capable of developing beautifully with age. The composition of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grapes in Basilica San Martino contributes to the wine's unique and international character. This blend, combined with the organic farming methods employed in the vineyard, results in a distinct expression of terroir and grape varieties. In conclusion, Basilica San Martino is a Chianti Classico Gran Selezione wine that has gained international recognition since its inaugural vintage in 1985. Produced from Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grapes, the vineyard follows organic cultivation principles. The exceptional weather conditions of the 2018 vintage in Chianti Classico resulted in wines of outstanding quality, characterized by elegance, balance, and fruitfulness. These wines are praised for their silky tannins and lively acidity. Basilica San Martino is seen as a true oenological gem, capable of being enjoyed immediately or aged with time, showcasing the unique blend of grape varieties and the vineyard's organic farming practices.

Cafaggio Discover Cafaggio in Tuscany and its fine wines in our online store The historic Cafaggio Estate, located in Panzano within the renowned Conca d'Oro area of Chianti, comprises 60 hectares of land. With a long history dating back to 1408, the estate has changed hands over the centuries. Currently owned by ISA S.p.A, a financial company based in Trento since 2016, Cafaggio is dedicated to being a distinguished producer of Chianti Classico wines. The estate comprises 30 hectares of vineyards, 3 hectares of olive groves, and the remaining land is covered with woodland. Previously belonging to various entities, including the Benedictine monks of Siena, the Niccolini family of Florence, and the Florentine Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova, the estate was later renovated and revitalised by the Boddi family in the 19th century and the Farkas family in the 1960s. During the Farkas family's tenure, the cellars were restored and the vineyards and olive groves were given meticulous attention. Cafaggio is committed to continuous improvement and the careful management of the entire production process.
