TASTING NOTES
The 2021 vintage was the driest in 15 years, with only 520 mm of rain, in Irpinia. Despite the low rainfall and above-average temperatures during the summer, the grapes were in excellent condition, with optimal sugar concentrations and balanced pH and acidity. In addition, they had an interesting endowment of aromatic precursors, which will undoubtedly result in wines of great profile and quality. Verzare is a beautiful district located in the municipality of Lapio, in the province of Avellino. Laura De Vito has a great passion for zoning and has chosen to follow the Cru route for her wines in the cellar. Consequently, this wine is named after the contrada in which the grapes are grown. The vineyard is located at an altitude of 550 metres above sea level. The Fiano grapes from the Verzare vineyard are harvested by hand in the second week of October. Great care is taken to ensure that the grapes are immediately brought to the cellar and gently pressed. After fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks, the Verzare is left to mature for 9 months in steel. Finally, the Verzare is bottled and left to mature for at least 20 months before marketing. You will love the brilliant straw-yellow colour with lively straw reflections of this wine! The nose is characterised by a delightful mixture of herbaceous notes such as mallow, thyme and coriander, followed by hints of abate pear, golden apple, apricot, almond, magnolia, cedar and subtle mineral nuances.
