CANNONAU DI SARDEGNA
Denominazione di Origine Controllata
GRAPE VARIETY
Cannonau - Also known as Grenache
TASTING NOTES
This Cannonau, also known as Grenache or Granacha, grows on pebbly soils lashed by the wind. The 2020 harvest began on 20 September, strictly by hand and in boxes. Vinification and ageing are aimed at not upsetting or counteracting what this splendid grape gives, so after fermentation in temperature-controlled steel, ageing also takes place in steel vats and in unroasted French oak barriques. The Cannonau 2020 is light ruby red in colour and the nose is wonderfully sweet and fresh with the absolutely typical Grenache scents. Red cherries, berries, thyme and mushrooms on the nose. On the palate, it is wild and somewhat stentorial, with a medium to full body and gently chewy tannins. The finish shows a bitter-herbal and mineral character. A very balanced wine. This wine is one of the best representatives of this wonderful grape variety. So gentle, refreshing and, despite the alcohol content, pure and ethereal. In July 2021, the winery completed the conversion process to Organic, and is therefore certified. The 1.5 l bottle is perfect to share with friends or as a gift.

The Azienda Agricola Antonella Corda is situated in Serdiana, a few kilometers from Cagliari, in Sardinia. The area, historically suited to agriculture, is rich in olive trees, vineyards and cereal fields. An agronomist specialized in wine management, Antonella Corda, inherited the family vineyards in 2010 and took over the reins of the company, transforming it well into a "boutique winery". Innovation and tradition come together perfectly in this excellent winemaking reality capable of reflecting the identity of this interesting area of Sardinia. Today, there are 40 hectares in total, 15 of which are vineyards, 12 are olive groves and the remaining arable land. Love for the land and respect for tradition: these are Antonella Corda's values that are found in the wines produced, all characterized by genuine refinement. The management of the wine fields is based on integrated pest management, organic fertilization and sustainable irrigation. There are two cultivated vineyards: Mitza Manna and Mitza S’ollastu .
