Discover our choice of Calvados in the Vinoso online store.
The Calvados is a distillate of apple cider, or apple and pear for the Calvados Domfrontais, a controlled designation of origin produced in southern Normandy. The quality and type of apples, sweet or bitter, are regulated by the disciplinary, as for wines. The apple juice is fermented and subsequently distilled to reach the desired alcohol content and ensure high quality. In our online wine shop we wanted to represent all three types of Calvados, proposed for different consumption occasions. Calvados Domfrontais are to be drunk young, as an aperitif or in cocktails. The Calvados Pays d’Auge are more complex and characterized by light spicy notes, perfect to combine with cheeses. The Calvados AOC are the most sought after thanks to their most important feature: the aging in wood.
