Green Company of the Year 2020 - the award for the most sustainable wine estates in the world

The Jackson family,based in the USA, has wine properties all over the world including since 1994, theTenuta Di Arceno, in Chianti Classico. The Drink Businnes, a world leader in the beverage industry, awards this award every year with the aim of raising awareness on the sustainability issues of the global beverage industry, and recognizing companies and people who have distinguished themselves from an environmental and social point of view. The judges praised this company's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and its goal of becoming climate positive by 2050, and found that the company has demonstrated how seriously it takes green issues through the co-founding of the International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA). Described by a judge as "true leaders in their field," this company stood out for its level of commitment to reducing emissions, large-scale use of renewable energy, and how it returns to the land through regenerative agriculture. They put into practice what they preach and support others to help them do the same. Jackson Family Wines includes many overseas wineries; in Napa Valley we find one of the oldest wineries in the area,Freemark Abbey, while in California we find the cellar from which everything started, in 1974, the Kendall-Jackson. From day one this was a family-run business; the great willpower and principles such as integrity, hard work and the refusal to compromise on quality marked their undisputed success. A few years later, in 1979, La Cremawas founded, before the Russian River Valley became the most famous production area for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in all of California. In 1993 Jess Jackson bought the estate and, with the help of renowned winemaker Dan Goldfield, gave great impetus and vitality to wine production. Soon the La Crema to include vineyards in Sonoma County, Mendocino and Monterey. In 2012, california was crossed to acquire several hectares of Pinot Noir in Oregon, in the famous Willamette Valley. Jackson Family Wines is a multigenerational family winery, and environmental protection is at the heart of operations globally, from agricultural and winemaking practices, to sales and distribution channels, always.
