TASTING NOTES
In 2020, the winter was mild and rainy, followed by a warm spring with regular rainfall that supported vegetative growth until flowering. The last rains before summer occurred in June, which was followed by a hot and dry season, but not excessively so. In August, there was a much-needed drop in temperature due to new rainfall, which then rose again in September to accompany the harvest. The grapes, which were carefully selected in the vineyard, underwent a vinification process in stainless steel wine vats at a controlled temperature. This process allowed for prolonged contact of the skins with the must. Malolactic fermentation occurred immediately after alcoholic fermentation, also in tanks. The wine was aged for 24 months in French oak barrels (50% new, 50% one-year old) and then for 6 months in bottles. The Bolgheri 2020 vintage wines are characterized by a well-balanced and harmonious taste, with intense and deep flavours. The tannins are already soft and not excessive, resulting in a serious red wine with a compact and fresh palate of blue fruit, berries, and hints of toasted oak, smoke, and chocolate. This full-bodied wine has a tight palate and finely crafted tannins, making it a very elegant Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.
ORIGIN OF THE NAME
Millepassi is produced by the vineyards located in Bolgheri in Migliarini, the toponym originates from "milium" measure Roman itinerary, corresponding to a thousand steps (m 1480), and had been attributed to the farm, because it was crossed by the ancient Via Emilia.
