Toscana is a land of excellent wines. Famous all over the world for its Sangiovese that in the classic Chainti and montalcino gives emotions in the bottle. But there is an area, along the Etruscan Coast, that has found a different and new way. Bolgheri's wine history is as young as it is extraordinary and its wines have managed to conquer the top of the world rankings in just a few years. At first the wines produced in Bolgheri had no denomination, and were considered table wines. The wines produced defied all the rules and traditions of the area and for this reason they were not recognized by any specification. From the first bottle marketed in 1968 to today, Bolgheri has unhinged the system and broken all the patterns, thanks to the extraordinary wines produced. The first specification of the Bolgheri DOC, dating back to 1983, initially included only Bianco and Rosato and it was not until 1994 that the great reds were finally recognized: Bolgheri, Bolgheri Superiore and Bolgheri Sassiacaia. On December 14, 1995, the Consortium for the Protection of Bolgheri DOC Wines was set up. The Bolgheri Rosso 2017 by Donna Olimpia 1898 is composed by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc. A beautiful red with scents of blackcurrant, sweet tobacco, lightly toasted wood and cigar box. A serious and well-made wine. It takes three years of bottle and will give its best in 2023. Available in different sizes, from half bottle to 6 Liters, to pamper yourself every day or celebrate big time.
