Each village in Südsteiermark (Stiria) is unique in terroir, altitude and geology. The classification of wines celebrates and respects this uniqueness. There are specific vineyards and particular vines, which show exactly those special features, which can be used. Tement winery is located in Berghausennel in the southern Stiria region (Steiermark), the green heart of Austria, on the border with Slovenia. The Tement family is an old-fashioned family, and follows the principles of once in a lifetime as well as in work. Organic farmingis one of the principles that they are particularly concerned about. In fact, their wines are characteristic and unique. They do not buy grapes, but only use those of the company that still has an extension of over 80 hectares. They do not outsource any machining passes. The grapes are all harvested by hand. By choice they rely on spontaneous fermentation of wines, which are also matured slowly and gently. This balanced and elegant Sauvignon Blanccompletely reflects its origins, leaving room for citrus notes that are balanced by hints of ripe plum.
93 POINTS Wine Enthusiast : Tement 2017 Ehrenhausen Muschelkalk Sauvignon Blanc (Südsteiermark) On the nose the mirabelle plum has a smoke tip of flint and green fern. The concentration on the palate is an interaction between the round maturity of the drupa and the fresh astringency of citrus fruits. The result is a full and animated juiciness on a light but expressive body. Adorable now but will evolve pleasantly. From good now until 2025. - ANNE KREBIEHL MW -
