TASTING NOTES
The Loiben region, on the eastern edge of the Wachau, is home to the Ober- and Unterloiben vineyards, which are characterised by gently sloping soils consisting mainly of gravel and sandy sediments. During the night, fresh air from the Menthalgraben valley descends into the Loiben basin, creating unique conditions for the production of wines of exceptional purity and power. The vines, which are between 20 and 35 years old, produce grapes that are harvested by hand in mid-October. The hand-picked grapes are pressed whole and left to macerate on the skins for two hours, then fermented in steel tanks and left to mature on the lees for about five months. The result is the Riesling Loiben 2023, with a beautiful yellow colour with greenish reflections and a bouquet of stone fruits. Balanced, juicy and with a subtle acidity, this wine has great length and a delicious minerality. As from 2019, the winery and all its wines are certified organic - AT-BIO 402.

Pichler-Krutzler

Pichler-Krutzler Discover Cantina Pichler-Krutzler in the Wachau region and its fine wines in our online store In 2006 Elisabeth Pichler and Erich Krutzler founded their winery in the Wachau region. Both come from families belonging to the wine world, they have created together unique wines with a noble soul, based on respect for nature, through sustainable viticulture. Pichler-Krutzler wines reflect the territory from which they come. These are wines harvested, refined and bottled without any assembly. The vineyards, mainly Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, extend over stone terraces and can only be cultivated by hand. This is where a particular microclimate is created, influenced by the front, by the mild temperatures of Pannonia from the east by the cold winds that blow down from the valleys. The Wachau region, where these unique and quality wines are born, is in fact a real jewel recognized as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
