TASTING NOTES
The notation 'In der Wand' dates back to a donation by the parish of Dürnstein in the year 1314 and describes three plots on the site of the so-called Kummersthal, located to the west of Dürnstein, which, however, is not registered as a single vineyard. Accessible only on foot via 100 stone steps, this steeply sloping terraced site is worked entirely by hand. It is unique and is also characterised by extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night due to its western orientation. This peculiarity, combined with the uniqueness of the soil, which is characterised by a high amount of Orthogneiss and shallow topsoil, allows the vines growing on this plot to produce extremely mineral wines, which are particularly long-lived, incredibly concentrated and characterised by sublime length. Since 2017, these soils have been worked according to the guidelines of organic viticulture, and the wine and winery have been certified organic since 2019 - AT-BIO 402.This In der wand 2022 in the glass is a light chartreuse yellow with silver highlights. Ripe mango, notes of yellow peach and candied tangerine peel, with an intense minerality. Taut, juicy, nuances of white stone fruit, elegant acidity, subtle tropical yellow fruit on the finish, fresh and mineral, salty and enveloping, a Riesling with a light and pleasant pace, elegant and persistent.

Discover Cantina Pichler-Krutzler in the Wachau region and its fine wines in our online store
In 2006 Elisabeth Pichler and Erich Krutzler founded their winery in the Wachau region. Both come from families belonging to the wine world, they have created together unique wines with a noble soul, based on respect for nature, through sustainable viticulture. Pichler-Krutzler wines reflect the territory from which they come. These are wines harvested, refined and bottled without any assembly. The vineyards, mainly Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, extend over stone terraces and can only be cultivated by hand. This is where a particular microclimate is created, influenced by the front, by the mild temperatures of Pannonia from the east by the cold winds that blow down from the valleys. The Wachau region, where these unique and quality wines are born, is in fact a real jewel recognized as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
