DREI DONÀ 23 hectares completely eco-sustainable in Romagna

Tenuta La Palazza e Drei Donà

Between Forlì, Castrocaro and Predappio, on the rolling hills of Romagna, there is Tenuta La Palazza, which belongs to the Drei Donà accounts since the 1920s, and has always been dedicated to the production of Sangiovese grapes. The current owner is Claudio Drei Donà who, after leaving the forensic business, decided to devote himself full-time to the company, undertaking a radical work of changes carried out also by his son Enrico.

The philosophy on which the estate is based is that of extreme rigor: the wines produced represent the result of the severe work in the vineyard and in the cellar, and are the maximum expression of the terrroir of central Romagna. In addition, since 1992 the winery has been committed to the adoption of sustainable agriculture through respect for the environment, biodiversity and the natural capacity to absorb waste from the earth.

In 2012 Drei Dona also managed to achieve energy independence thanks to the entry into operation of a new photovoltaic system. Of the 23 hectares of acre, most are naturally dedicated to Sangiovese, whose old plants were the subject of a particular study and selection that led to their restoration through the replanting of the mass selection of La Palazza.

Drei Donà vineyard and wine names

The strict work in the vineyard according to the dictates of organic farming, the protection of biodiversity in the estate, the delicate work in the cellar and the slow refinements, are the simple gestures to bring in the glass the purest expression of the micro-terroir of Massa di Vecchiazzano, inside the Doc Predappio where the company is located. Among the eleven wines produced VINOSO. Shop has selected four bottles that you will not appreciate: Pruno is the Cru of Sangiovese, Notturno, always Sangiovese in purity but as a blend of various Crus and Magnificats, a splendid Cabernet Sauvignon. In whites we find Il Tornese a blend of Chardonnay and Riesling.
All wines have been baptized with the names of the horses of the small family farm.

Artevigna Project

The Artevigna project, an artistic cultivation project in the vineyard, is also being carried out at the La Palazza estate. Every year an artist is invited to walk through the vineyards of the Estate and then interpret the soul of the earth giving an artistic life to the natural materials resulting from the vineyards. These works remain there where they were designed and are visible simply by walking in the vineyards, creating a path that is getting richer and richer from year to year.
