Il Tornese 2023 is a white wine that embodies excellence in the Romagnolo wine tradition, born from the passion and innovation of the Drei Donà family. This wine is a cuvée crafted from a skilful blend of Chardonnay and Riesling Renano grapes, two varieties that come together to create a unique tasting experience. The history of Il Tornese is fascinating, dating back to the 1980s when Count Claudio Drei Donà decided to plant the first Chardonnay vineyards at Tenuta La Palazza, a pioneering idea for its time. This trailblazing approach led to the creation of a pure Chardonnay that has been highly awarded over the years. In the 2000s, his son Enrico continued this tradition, working to make Il Tornese a more accessible and modern wine. Through experimentation with Riesling Renano, Enrico crafted a surprising combination that quickly won the favour of both customers and critics. Il Tornese 2023 presents itself with a bright straw-yellow colour and offers a complex aromatic bouquet that ranges from Mediterranean and exotic fruits to notes of ginger, cardamom, apricot, and vanilla. The freshness of the Riesling Renano perfectly blends with the warm structure of the Chardonnay, creating a harmonious balance. With an alcohol content of 13.5% and good acidity, this wine is ideal for pairing with fish dishes, such as grilled seafood or tagliolini with crab. Vinification takes place using traditional methods, featuring cold maceration of the grapes to preserve their fruity freshness. Only 10% of the Chardonnay matures in barriques, while the remainder is vinified in stainless steel. After creating the cuvée, the wine rests in steel for a month before being aged in bottle for at least three months prior to release. Il Tornese 2023 is not just a wine; it is a celebration of Romagnolo winemaking tradition and the innovation of the Drei Donà family.
