TASTING NOTES
The vineyard is situated in a remote mountain basin at an altitude of between 300 and 420 metres above sea level and with a south-southeast orientation. It is renowned for its sandy-loamy coral limestone soil, a legacy of the Paratethys ocean. The vineyard's unique position, which leads to particularly cold nights, plays a key role in the creation of elegant wines with a distinctive note of herbs and minerals and a spicy salinity. The Premier Cru vines have an average age of 35 years. The grapes are harvested by hand with great care and fermented in stainless steel tanks using a natural and spontaneous process. The wine is then matured on its fine lees for 24 months in oak barrels and bottled without filtering. Sauvignon is characterised by its deep mineral and citrus aromas, accompanied by a saline note of caper and blackcurrant. The wine is rich in mineral aromas derived from the limestone soil, offering a long and pleasant persistence. It can be enjoyed young, but further ageing of 3-5 years is recommended to bring out its full potential. The wine can also age beautifully for up to 20 years in the bottle. It is produced from certified organic grapes.

Weingut Tement

Weingut Tement Discover Cantina Weingut Tement in Styria and its fine wines in our online store The Weingut Tement winery is located in the Southern Styria region, also named the green lung of Austria. The property is located among vineyards climbing in the middle of the forest, from which you can admire a breathtaking view. At the age of 19, in 1972, Manfred Tement inherited a small portion of the vineyard from his father. Today the property extends over 85 hectares and the management is entrusted to Armin and Stefan Tement who represent the third generation and have been able to create a perfect balance between tradition and innovation. The modern winery, built in 2001, overlooks about 50 hectares of vineyards on the Slovenian side from above, cultivated in organic and eco-sustainable way. The grapes are harvested by hand in several different steps to obtain them fully ripe and perfectly healthy. The soils have calcareous origin and contain marine sediments , giving life to elegant and mineral wines. The most widespread variety is Sauvignon Blanc , which represents 60% of the entire property. The other varieties are Gelber Muskateller , Morillon, Weissburgunder and Gewürztraminer . White wines represent 96% of the total production, reds ( Blauer Zweigelt and Pinot Nero ) 3%, sweet wines 1%.
