TASTING NOTES
Tement's former Grassnitzberg comes with a new name, as the family opted for a particular appellation for the coolest part of the 80-hectare single vineyard, located on a 16-million-year-old coral limestone shelf in the southeast-facing Erste Lage (premier cru). Ried Grassnitzberg was the first vineyard owned by the family, the first vineyard that founder Josef Tement planted. In this vineyard the grapes reach their full maturity much later than in all the other vineyards, and it is precisely this slow and long ripening that gives it aromas and structure decidedly typical of the Grassnizberg terroir. After spontaneous fermentation and a 24-month aging in oak barrels, the wine is bottled unfiltered. This Sauvignon impresses with deep mineral and citrus aromas, salted caper and black currant. Lots of lime spices are present, leaving an everlasting flavor. Warm lemon, black currant and apricot. Delicate and fresh, with a gentle minerality and a mouthwatering finish. Can be drunk young, but we recommend bottle aging of 3-5 years. Potential for long aging. Drink from 2025-2037.
