TASTING NOTES
The vineyards of the L’Illuminata Estate are located at an average altitude of 250 meters above sea level. facing south-west and lying on sedimentary soil of Miocene origin, sandy-limestone. The 2011 harvest will be remembered over time as an unconventional vintage, in fact it was very early and with not excessive yields in the vineyard. The high temperatures in April made the season start early, the cool days between the end of June and mid-July favored the vegetative development and the torrid days of August, so at the beginning of veraison, they influenced the weight. of the grapes, causing the scarce production. Without a doubt, the vine that has adapted best to this vintage, once again, is Nebbiolo. The grapes that arrived in the cellar have all the characteristics that are required for the great wines of this area: low yield in the vineyard, excellent quantity of tannins and good color as well as a really interesting aromatic framework. Barolo Tebavio is a dense and well-extracted expression of Nebbiolo with tones of red fruit, plum, sweet vanilla and ground coffee. This beautiful 2011 opens with seductive hints of berries, iris, rose hips and a balsamic note. The palate begins to open now, in 2020, and offers raw red berries, chopped sage and star anise along with invigorating tannins and lively acidity. It is a Barolo that needs time to completely indulge. Drinking from 2021. Rehoboam is a bottle with an important size, in fact the bottle is 5 liters. With its original wooden case it is perfect as a gift and to open in good company. It is advisable to uncork the bottle beforehand or to use a decanter.
