CHAMPAGNE BLANC DE BLANCS VINTAGE 2014
GRAPE VARIETY
Chardonnay
TASTING NOTES
In June, conditions were optimal and flowering commenced. In July, precipitation was sufficient to support the healthy growth of the grapes. After a relatively cool August, September saw high temperatures and low rainfall, which concentrated the acidity and sugar in the berries. 2014 saw the Côte des Blancs Chardonnay wines attain remarkable levels of freshness and purity. Blanc des Millénaires 2014 reflects with intensity and elegance the essence of Charles Heidsieck’s emphasis on time. It took nine years of dedication and expertise from three cellar masters to create this exceptional wine from the Côte des Blancs. A journey through time from the chalky terroir to the millenary Crayères is evident in the final product. Blanc des Millénaires 2014 is crafted from Chardonnay grapes sourced exclusively from five distinct Crus in the Côte des Blancs region: Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Oger, Cramant, Vertus. This vintage is the 8th in Blanc des Millénaires' 40-year history. The 2014 vintage is notable for its distinctive characteristics, which align well with the Chardonnay grapes, aged for nine years prior to bottling. The wine's tasting profile is characterized by bright and contained aromas and flavors, with a distinct freshness. The nose presents notes of blood orange and a rich, nutty character, while the mouthfeel offers a hint of brioche and ripe apricot, along with a deep salty quality, mild tobacco and eucalyptus notes, and a chalky finish.
