TASTING NOTES
The Sancerre 2022 from Domaine de Terres Blanches is a wine made exclusively from Sauvignon grapes. The estate's vineyards extend over 13.5 hectares and are located in the communes of Bué en Sancerre, Sancerre and Amigny. The calcareous soil of the area, consisting of caillottes and Terres Blanches, gives the wine a unique character. The grapes are harvested by hand when fully ripe, after rigorous selection in the field. After cold decanting, the must ferments in temperature-controlled vats for about 20 days. Subsequently, the wine is matured in steel vats on the lees for 8 months before being bottled. The result is a wine with a floral aroma and hints of citrus fruits, fresh and smooth, with a long, fruity finish. The Sancerre Blanc 2022 from Domaine de Terres Blanches is an excellent expression of the terroir and the variety of grapes used, to be enjoyed on any occasion. More specifically, this Sancerre Rouge 2020 by Domaine de Terres Blanches is a wine made from Pinot Noir grapes from a small vineyard of 1.5 hectares located in the commune of Bué en Sancerre. The limestone soil is mainly composed of caillottes, the hard limestone typical of the Sancerre region, and Terres Blanches. After manual harvesting when fully ripe, the grapes are destemmed and selected a second time before being placed in the vats. Fermentation begins after a cold maceration and extraction takes place by means of punching-down and pumping-over, with a short 15-day period in the vats. After racking, half of the wine is refined in steel vats and the other half in barriques. Red fruit aromas can be perceived on the nose, while the palate is firm and long, with light, soft tannins that give the wine the ability to age for several years.
