TASTING NOTES
Aligoté is the third most important grape variety in Burgundy, closely related to Chardonnay. DNA analysis confirms that the Aligoté grape is part of the Pinot family, to which Chardonnay also belongs. Bourgogne Aligoté is a label reserved for the production of still white wines made exclusively from the Aligoté grape in the Burgundy region. The Bourgogne Aligoté label was created in July 1937. In recent times, many winegrowers have been working to enhance this label. The Aligoté grapes used to produce this wine are grown in Le Clos du Meix Gobillon, close to the estate's buildings. The soil in this area has a light and dark brown hue and contains gravel. The vineyard was planted in 1962 and enjoys a unique microclimate. The vineyard is situated along a stream to the south, surrounded by walls and buildings that provide plenty of exposure to the sun, allowing the grapes to ripen perfectly. The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed to extract the juice, which is then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Fermentation temperatures are carefully managed to preserve the organoleptic qualities of the wine. Finally, the wine is matured in stainless steel tanks for 6-8 months before bottling. In the glass, the wine is pale yellow in colour with intense floral and citrus aromas. With a fascinating, light-bodied palate, one can appreciate fruity notes that balance softness and freshness, leaving a pleasant mouthfeel. This wine reaches its maximum quality after ageing for 3-4 years.
