TASTING NOTES
Meursault is a significant village located in the Côte de Beaune sub-region in Burgundy, renowned for its high-quality wines, comparable to those produced in the neighbouring village of Puligny-Montrachet. The village extends over 5 kilometres from north to south and boasts numerous prized vineyard sites, including several renowned Lieu-dit vineyards. These locations, although not classified as premier cru, are renowned for the superior quality of their grapes and are frequently mentioned on wine labels. The wine in question is produced using grapes from a plot located in the lieu-dit Les Corbins, where the vines thrive on light, stony soils flanked by rocky outcrops near Volnay Santenots. The vines, with an average age of around 40 years, are divided into two parts: one recently replanted and the other dating back to 1968. The grapes, harvested by hand and transported to the cellar in small baskets, are immediately pressed and decanted without the addition of sulphites, thus initiating the alcoholic fermentation process. At the halfway point of the process, the must is transferred to barrels, with approximately 20% of them being new. Here, fermentation continues until completion. Subsequent to this, the wines are aged in barrels for 10-12 months before being bottled. The wine has a pleasant golden hue in the glass and notes of butter and white flowers are perceived on the nose. In the mouth, the wine reveals a complex character with fruity notes and good flavour. It is recommended that the wine be consumed after an ageing period of at least three to four years to fully appreciate its qualities.
