TASTING NOTES
Aloxe-Corton is a small village and commune in the Côte de Beaune sub-region of Burgundy. Located on the southern slopes of the Montagne de Corton, this area is renowned for its Pinot Noir vineyards. The wine of Aloxe-Corton is crafted from grapes sourced from two plots situated on the hill at the entrance to the village. The first parcel is comprised of vines planted on marly limestone soil, while the second was cultivated between 1942 and 1958 on a subsoil of permeable gravel and clay limestone. The grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the cellar. After destemming some of the grapes, they are transferred to vats to ferment for 18 days. This method guarantees the production of elegant and delicate wines. After fermentation, the wine is completed in the vats before being transferred to the cellars for bottling, where it will remain for 12-18 months. During this period, two or three racking operations are carried out to separate the sediment formed at the bottom of the barrel. Prior to bottling, the wine is clarified and filtered if necessary. The 2022 Aloxe-Corton Vieilles Vignes has an intense ruby red colour and a complex bouquet of berries, blond tobacco and mousse. On the palate, the wine is strong, compact and full, but with a surprising finesse. Thanks to the perfect balance between tannins and fruit, it is ideal for ageing.
