TASTING NOTES
Corton-Charlemagne is the largest of the Grand Cru white wines of the Côte de Beaune, located north of the town of Beaune. It is situated on the upper part of the southern side of the Corton hill and is produced from grapes grown on the En Charlemagne soil, occupying 17 hectares between Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton. The vines are cultivated on clay and marl soils with an optimal west-south-west exposure. After being selected in the vineyard, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented with natural yeasts in barrels. The wine matures in wood for 14 months, with 50% new oak from the Vosges and Allier forests. In the glass, it has a golden yellow colour and an elegant aroma of oak, white pepper, brioche, toasted almonds, candied fruit and floral notes of rose. In the mouth, the wine is characterised by roundness, depth and sweetness, which are balanced by a fresh citrus acidity, with hints of aniseed and a subtle essence of iodine. The palate offers fullness, volume and freshness, creating a balanced and pleasant experience.

Edouard Delaunay

Edouard Delaunay Discover Edouard Delaunay in Burgundy, and his fine wines in our online store The Delaunay family originates from western France and has been linked to the world of wine for generations. Since 1771, Edme Delaunay has been a sworn wine broker by royal decree, demonstrating the constant quest for excellence and ambition that has characterised the Maison over the years. In 1934, the family was one of the founders of the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Tastevin, thus confirming its leading role on the wine scene. Laurent Delaunay, the fifth generation of the family, decided to rediscover and enhance the history of the Maison, reacquiring it in 2017 and bringing it back to the top of the great négociants of Burgundy. Thanks to the careful vinification and ageing of wines from the region's best terroirs, the Maison Edouard Delaunay has regained its prestige and continues to be a benchmark in the wine world.
