TASTING NOTES
In 1600, Jehan Humblot, a Beaune lawyer and royal notary, generously donated a large estate to the Hospices de Beaune. Since 2005, the Cuvée de Meursault has been made exclusively from the Premier Cru 'Les Porusots'. The vines, planted before 1974 with some dating back to 1936 and 1953, cover 0.79 hectares. The 2017 Cuvee Jehan Humblot has been skilfully vinified by Ludivine Griveau, oenologist at the Hospices de Beaune. The grapes were hand-picked at peak ripeness, pressed immediately in the cellar and fermented with natural yeasts in barriques. After 17 months in the producer's barrels, the wine was transferred to Delaunay's cellars in December. Pale golden yellow in colour, this wine offers floral notes of white flowers and acacia, followed by hints of pastry, nougatine and vanilla. On the palate, it is intense and concentrated while maintaining an excellent freshness. Notes of pastry, rum and sultanas mingle with a light touch of new oak. An exceptional balance, offering fullness and volume, while retaining the freshness and tension typical of quality white wines from the Côte de Beaune.
