TASTING NOTES
The Gustave Lorentz Riesling Réserve Magnum 2023 is an Alsace white wine that encapsulates the elegance and freshness typical of Riesling, a true expression of the Bergheim terroir. The 2023 vintage in Alsace was particularly remarkable: a semi-continental climate with warm, sunny summers, sheltered by the Vosges Mountains, promoted optimal grape ripening, resulting in wines with vibrant acidity and superior aromatic complexity. Dry autumns allowed for timely harvesting, enhancing sugar concentration and aromatic intensity. However, production decreased by 13% due to spring frosts and hailstorms affecting some vineyards, making this vintage even more precious and sought-after. Visually, the wine reveals a bright straw-yellow hue with greenish reflections. On the nose, it opens with intense and refined aromas of fresh citrus fruits, white flowers, and a vibrant minerality, characteristic of great Alsace Rieslings. On the palate, it is fresh, savoury, and harmonious, with well-balanced acidity delivering a clean and persistent finish that will captivate even the most discerning palates. Produced by the historic Gustave Lorentz winery, which has cultivated its organic vineyards with passion and respect for the environment for generations, this Riesling Réserve pairs perfectly with fish dishes, roast poultry, washed-rind cheeses such as Munster or Époisses, and even spicy Asian cuisine, thanks to its ability to balance complex flavours. The Magnum format, synonymous with celebration and sharing, makes this wine ideal for convivial moments, elegant dinners, or as a refined gift for friends and wine enthusiasts. If you are looking for an authentic, versatile Alsace Riesling with great character, the Gustave Lorentz Riesling Réserve 2023 is an excellent choice for your online wine cellar, capable of telling the story and richness of a unique terroir with every sip.

Gustave Lorentz Discover Cantina Gustave Lorentz in Alsace and its fine wines in our online store In Alsace, more precisely in the village of Bergheim, the Lorentz family has been involved in wine production for 250 years . In fact, in 1863 Charles Lorentz founded the winery moved by an incredible passion for the wine world. The vineyards are located on the hills of Altenberg de Bergheim and Kanzlerberg . It is thanks to a great passion handed down from generation to generation that the company still maintains very high quality levels today. According to the production philosophy, the essence of the wines is the result of the intimate and close relationship between vines, territory and climate. Currently the property includes 33 hectares and is entrusted to the sixth generation of the Lorentz family. Riesling , Pinot Grigio , Gewürztraminer and other varieties in the Altenberg hills express their typicality, year after year. The recognition for this perseverance took place in 1983, with the classification of these vineyards as " Gran Cru ".
