TASTING NOTES
The Barossa Valley in South Australia is world-renowned and is only an hour's drive north-east of Adelaide. The warm climate of the Ebenezer sub-area of the Barossa Valley, with its loose soils and abundance of old vines (some of the oldest in the world), provides the ideal climate for growing a rich, fruity and captivating Shiraz. The grapes are hand-picked when fully ripe and destemmed and transferred to stainless steel vats for fermentation in contact with the skins for 3-5 weeks at a temperature of 22°C, with gentle extraction and regular pumping over. The wine then matures for 12 months in French oak barriques (20% new). To the eye, an intense red with violet hues. The nose is complex with ripe fruit and well-integrated oak, finished with sweet touches of strawberry, red liquorice and dark fruits. The palate is full with a clean, acidic thorn. The mid-palate sweetness is supported by smooth tannins and floral and oak notes that make it long and persistent. This Barossa Valley Shiraz is a wine that perfectly embodies the spirit and character of the region, offering complexity, depth and intensity. It is perfect with roast meat dishes, mature cheeses and spicy dishes. A perfect wine to enjoy with friends and to keep in the cellar for years to come. The Barossa Valley is truly a magical place for wine lovers, and this Shiraz is an excellent representation of what this region has to offer.
