TASTING NOTES
Jeannine Boutin's Arena Mica Hermitage is made from Syrah grapes from the northern Côtes du Rhône, grown on vines between 40 and 60 years old. The soil is composed of limestone, ferruginous clay, Palaeoproterozoic quartz and jasper pebbles. After the grapes are harvested by hand when fully ripe, they are destemmed and fermented in stainless steel vats for 5-8 weeks at 22°C, with gentle extraction and regular pumping over. Subsequently, the wine matures for one year in 300-litre Troncais oak barrels. The Syrah produced shows a deep colour and a complex, savoury flavour. Dense and concentrated, it offers a rich variety of sensations, with notes of succulent red fruits, intense chocolate, minerality and spices, ending with a finish reminiscent of leather. With an incredible ageing potential of up to 15 years, this wine promises to evolve magnificently over time.
