TASTING NOTES
The Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge Vendange 2021 is a wine made from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes from the southern Côtes du Rhône in the renowned Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The vineyard is located on a terrace on the north-eastern slope of the area, with soil composed of pebbles, clay, light sand and crushed mineral stones. The grapes are harvested by hand when fully ripe, destemmed and then transferred to stainless steel vats for fermentation with the skins, which lasts between 5 and 8 weeks at a controlled temperature of 22/30°C, with regular pumping over to achieve a gentle extraction of the refined tannins. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months, 10% of which is in wood and the rest in cement vats as per tradition. The Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge Vendange 2021 presents a mix of small red and black fruits, notes of caramel, liquorice and Mediterranean spices. The intense red-purple colour is accompanied by a soft and robust palate, with smooth tannins lending freshness to the structure. The persistent aromatic notes are reminiscent of balsamic with a complex mineral base, and the wine's balance makes the alcohol almost imperceptible. The finish is sweet and fresh, with a pleasant mineral note.
