TASTING NOTES
Verzare is a wine that embodies the essence of Campanian viticulture, originating from the beautiful district of Verzare, located in the municipality of Lapio, in the province of Avellino. The 2022 vintage was characterised by favourable weather conditions, with a mild winter and a spring that saw regular rainfall, contributing to a good accumulation of water reserves. Although summer temperatures were high, they were mitigated by cool breezes, allowing for a balanced ripening of the grapes. These climatic conditions favoured the development of high-quality Fiano grapes, rich in aromas and freshness. The Fiano di Avellino Verzare 2022 presents itself with a brilliant straw-yellow colour, enriched by lively greenish reflections. On the nose, it offers a complex and aromatic bouquet, characterised by a delightful blend of herbaceous notes such as mallow, thyme, and coriander, followed by hints of Abate pear, Golden apple, apricot, almond, magnolia, and cedar. Subtle mineral nuances recall the volcanic terroir of the region. On the palate, the wine stands out for its freshness and sapidity, with good structure and a pleasant acidity that enhances its drinkability. The finish is long and persistent, with a fruity aftertaste that invites another sip. The Fiano grapes from the Verzare vineyard are hand-harvested in the second week of October. Great care is taken to ensure that the bunches are immediately brought to the winery and gently pressed. After fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the wine matures for 9 months in steel. Finally, it is bottled and allowed to age for at least 20 months before being released on the market. The Fiano di Avellino Verzare 2022 pairs well with typical dishes from Campanian cuisine. It is ideal with seafood starters, light risottos, and vegetable-based dishes. Its versatility also makes it perfect for accompanying fresh cheeses or summer salads. Additionally, it can be served as an aperitif thanks to its freshness and aromatic qualities.
