GRAPE VARIETY
Sangiovese Grosso 100%
TASTING NOTES
The Sangiovese Grosso that is used to produce this wonderful Brunello di Montalcino Le Lucere grows at 270/310 meters above sea level and has eastern and northern exposure. The yield of 6 quintals per hectare ensures, along with the exposure, excellent ripening of the grapes, albeit slower. This Le Lucere 2018 in the glass is complex and already open, with aromas of slate, dried rosemary, grilled sage, lemon peel, black cherries and cardamom. Soft and full-bodied, with elegant, fine tannins, it has nuances of olive stone and herbs. Firmer and more mineral finish than the previous vintage. To be tried after 2025. T he harvest began in the first decade of October 2018. To extract all the best from the grapes, a 2-day cold pre-maceration at 10°C is carried out. This is followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel and a subsequent maceration of 10/12 days at 26/28°C. Malolactic fermentation follows in cement vats and stainless steel tanks. Aging is a very important part of the production of Brunello di Montalcino Le Lucere, in fact it is aged for24/28 months in barrels and barriques followed by 10 months in bottles. There were 15,000 bottles produced of the 2018 vintage.

San Filippo is located east of Montalcino, where the most long-lived and elegant wines of the entire Brunello area are produced. It covers an area of about 22 hectares, 11 of which are vineyards, where Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah are mainly grown, and about one and a half hectares of olive groves. Founded in 1972, the company was bought by Roberto Giannelli, who renovated and refurbished all the buildings and outdoor areas of the property and the wine resort. At the same time, Roberto has also modernized the production of wines, making use of the experience of excellent experts and excellent technicians he has always trusted. The modern and functional cellar extends over a covered area of more than 1,000 square meters and includes a space for winemaking, a room for refining, a department for bottling, packaging and storing wines. The aging cellar is located in the grounds of the old farmhouse.
