TASTING NOTES
Situated on the east side of Montalcino, between 280 and 1100 m a.s.l., the soil is of Pliocene marine origin, clayey, with yellow-brown silt and sand, medium to small grained, with thin layers of pietraforte remnants. It is a 100% Sangiovese vineyard, with a density of 4,500 plants/hectare and a yield of 6,000 kilograms/hectare. The harvest is by hand at the beginning of October. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with temperature control. Maceration includes 2 days of cold maceration at 10°C and 10-12 days at 25-28°C during and after fermentation. The malolactic fermentation takes place in vats made of cement. The wine matures for 12 months in barriques and tonneaux, then 12-16 months in 20-30 HL oak barrels. The wine then refines in the bottle for 22 months. The Brunello di Montalcino Le Lucere Riserva 2018 has a ruby red colour with nuances that tend towards garnet. The fragrance is intense, intricate, and refined, with notes of Morello cherry complemented by a hint of spices, particularly cinnamon and cloves. The initial phase on the palate highlights the wine's structure, fullness, and roundness, followed by a persistent finish thanks to the dense and silky tannins and a harmonious return of the olfactory end-notes. The Riserva is a selection of the finest wine from the Le Lucére vineyard, produced during exceptional vintages.
