Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita
The vineyards of the Estate L'Illuminata are located at an average altitude of 250 meters above sea level facing south-west and lying on sedimentary soil of Miocene origin, sandy-limestone. The agricultural campaign of 2009 began with a winter characterized by abundant snowfall and a rainy beginning of spring, which guaranteed an excellent water reserve in the soil. These reserves were of fundamental importance during the summer, avoiding problems related to water stress that could have occurred, given the almost zero summer rainfall combined with the great heat, especially in the second half of August. From the point of view of ripening of the grapes, 2009 is a vintage that is placed between 2003 and 2007 with many sugars and an acidity that clearly highlights the complete ripening process. One of the best harvests of recent years. Barolo Tebavio is a dense and well-extracted expression of Nebbiolo with tones of red fruit, plum, sweet vanilla and ground coffee. A 2009 still very fresh and exotic with dark berries, dried flowers and hints of hazelnut. Full-bodied, tight and linear with a streamlined and fresh finish. Perfect now, in 2021, and certainly given the evolution of the biennial tastings of the best critics, who see it always improve over the years, it will still have a long life.
