TASTING NOTES
Pinot Grigio grown in Alto Adige displays varying characteristics depending on the region. It can be fiery with fruity aromas or have mineral notes and scents of lime blossom. Renon, in the province of Bolzano, is famous for the production of Pinot Grigio on warm, alluvial and gravelly soils, resulting in wines with smoky aromas and a robust structure. The 2023 harvest faced extreme weather conditions, including early bud break, dry months, a cool spring, a wet summer, and heat peaks in July and August. Despite the challenges, the harvest eventually experienced a long-awaited dry autumn with warm days and cool nights. However, the wet weather did cause problems for the winemakers. The constant humidity meant they had to be very careful to avoid damage. The 2023 vintage white wines are expected to be fresh, bright, fruity, and light. The grapes undergo careful selection and gentle pressing before undergoing alcoholic fermentation in vats. In the glass this Pinot Grigio 2023 Winzerberg shows a brilliant straw yellow with golden yellow nuances. The aroma is fruity, with distinct notes of pear and apple, complemented by subtle hints of honey and hazelnut, which add warmth and depth. The taste is full-bodied, pleasant, and rich in extracts. This wine pairs well with mushroom dishes, flavorful fish dishes, seafood, or traditional South Tyrolean specialties.
