TASTING NOTES
The Charles Heidsieck Rosé Millésimé 2018 is a celebration of elegance and refinement, the result of a year that transformed climatic challenges into an opportunity to create an extraordinary wine. This Champagne tells the story of an exceptional harvest, thanks to the mastery of the historic Charles Heidsieck Maison, renowned for its dedication to quality and for the use of the iconic Crayères, ancient chalk cellars that are a UNESCO World Heritage site. 2018 was a year of climatic extremes: a spring characterised by rain and storms gave way to a hot, dry summer. These conditions allowed the vines to thrive, leading to rapid ripening and a harvest of healthy, high-quality grapes. The high yields also made it possible to replenish reserves after a difficult 2017. The result? Fresh, fruity and elegant wines, ranking among the best vintages in Champagne. This Rosé Millésimé 2018 is the result of a skillful blend; 59% is Pinot Noir, with 8% vinified as red wine from Bouzy, while the remaining 41% is Chardonnay, selected from Grands and Premiers Crus such as Oger, Vertus, Chouilly, Verzy and Ambonnay. This Champagne has rested for a good 5 years on its lees in the Crayères, guaranteeing complexity and depth. The dosage is 9 g/L, perfectly balanced to enhance the wine's natural freshness. To the eye, the elegant copper hue immediately captures attention, reflecting the wine's refinement. The nose finds a generous and complex bouquet that opens with floral notes of peony, rose and violet, accompanied by fruity aromas of blueberry, raspberry, pomegranate and blood orange. Touches of tea and liquorice add depth. The attack on the palate is fresh and lively, with a creamy texture that envelops the palate. The flavours of ripe red fruits are intertwined with citrus and spicy nuances, providing a long and balanced persistence. This Champagne lends itself to multiple culinary pairings thanks to its versatility: Cheeses such as Ossau-Iraty accompanied by black cherry jam or goat cheeses on rocket salad. Delicate fish such as sole served with peaches. More structured dishes such as duck with orange or glazed duck breast. Game such as venison with blueberries. The Charles Heidsieck Maison is famous not only for its exceptional wines but also for its Crayères, ancient chalk cellars located 30 metres underground. These environments offer ideal conditions for ageing wines, contributing to their unique complexity. Charles Heidsieck Rosé Millésimé 2018 represents the perfect balance between tradition and innovation. It is an ideal wine for celebrating special moments or simply for indulging in an unforgettable oenological experience.

Charles Heidsieck

Charles Heidsieck Discover the Maison Charles Heidsieck and its fine Champagnes in our online store Charles Camille Heidsieck was born in 1822, 37 years after his great-uncle founded Champagne Heidsieck et Cie House. The young Charles grew up in an environment where one breathed the air of champagne from an early age. At just 29, he took his destiny into his own hands and founded the Maison Charles Heidsieck , buying 47 crayères in which to vinify the grapes grown by his cousin Ernest Henriot. The 19th Century was the era of great discoveries and Charles immediately revealed himself to be a visionary, innovative and highly intelligent man. He became ambassador of his own Maison and, consequently, of all of France. During his travels, Charles Heidsieck embodied contemporary French glamor and distinguished himself as a free spirit with an innate kindness. Charles was a man with an elegant and clean charm, he conquered America and seduced the bourgeoisie of New York, becoming the legendary "Champagne Charlie" . More than 160 years after its creation, the Maison remains a family business driven by the enterprising, ambitious and courageous spirit of the founder. The Champagnes Charles Heidsieck enjoys absolute fame. The unique style, characterized by a high percentage of reserve wines, is what gives balance to the Maison's cuvée sans année. The selected grapes give, together with the original Crus, complexity to the final product. Vinified vine by vine, they allow a precise selection of each wine in which one brings its touch of depth, the other its share of softness. The separate vinification allows precision and great refinement in the construction of flavors.
