CHAMPAGNE ROSE MILLESIME 2006
GRAPE VARIETY
63% Pinot Nero (of which 8% vinified in red), 37% Chardonnay
TASTING NOTES
The 2006 wine year is to be considered at the same level as 2005, both vintages being excellent both quantitatively and qualitatively. The grapes reached an above average degree of ripeness, thus reaching a slightly lower level of acidity than in 2005, with an average potential degree of 10.1g / l compared to 9.6g / l in the previous year. Chardonnays initially appear relatively closed, but open quickly to offer rich and complex aromas. Pinot Noir stand out for their richness and develop notes of small red fruits. All this suggests balanced, vinous and structured wines, which undoubtedly contain the qualitative attributes necessary for the elaboration of a very thick vintage cuvée. For the second time in the history of the Maison Charles Heidsieck, the Chef de Caves has decided to degorg the Rosé Vintage 2006 before the vintage rosé 2005. A decision of the winemaker due to the beautiful complexity that 2006 already offers today. Before expressing himself fully , this great rosé aged almost 10 years on the lees in the darkness of the Maison's ultra-millenary Crayères, at a constant temperature of 10 ° C. The Rosé Vintage 2006 finally rested 9 months after disgorgement, to perfect its depth and reach a great balance. A beautiful pale pink dress with amber reflections, reminiscent of the skin of an apricot, supported by a refined perlage of incomparable finesse. Very fragrant, the power and consistency of this great rosé are expressed to the nose at the same time. The Pinot Noir vinified in red give it clear aromas of strawberry jam and candied fruit, combined with aromas of sweet spices such as cinnamon, honey, cardamom and pralines. In such a journey of flavors, the palate is enveloped by a greasy sensation of plum. This wine develops a silky consistency, reminiscent of a fig and pine nut cake, also opening up to hints of pastry. Spicy aromas of licorice and cumin are then revealed. The finish is warm, round, characterized by generous notes of wild blackberry tea, cherry, small red berries and fresh figs. Jeroboam is a perfect bottle for a geat occasions!

Charles Camille Heidsieck was born in 1822, 37 years after his great-uncle founded Champagne Heidsieck et Cie House. The young Charles grew up in an environment where one breathed the air of champagne from an early age. At just 29, he took his destiny into his own hands and founded the Maison Charles Heidsieck , buying 47 crayères in which to vinify the grapes grown by his cousin Ernest Henriot. The 19th Century was the era of great discoveries and Charles immediately revealed himself to be a visionary, innovative and highly intelligent man. He became ambassador of his own Maison and, consequently, of all of France. During his travels, Charles Heidsieck embodied contemporary French glamor and distinguished himself as a free spirit with an innate kindness. Charles was a man with an elegant and clean charm, he conquered America and seduced the bourgeoisie of New York, becoming the legendary "Champagne Charlie" .
More than 160 years after its creation, the Maison remains a family business driven by the enterprising, ambitious and courageous spirit of the founder. The Champagnes Charles Heidsieck enjoys absolute fame. The unique style, characterized by a high percentage of reserve wines, is what gives balance to the Maison's cuvée sans année. The selected grapes give, together with the original Crus, complexity to the final product. Vinified vine by vine, they allow a precise selection of each wine in which one brings its touch of depth, the other its share of softness. The separate vinification allows precision and great refinement in the construction of flavors.
