TASTING NOTES
Charles Heidsieck has chosen its Brut Réserve to express the quintessence of its style. Particularly recognisable, this wine is the fruit of a unique blend that can be summarised with one equation: 60/40/10. 60: the number of crus in a blend that is precise, stringent and tailor-made. The wines produced that year, a third of each varietal (Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir), are vinified cru by cru, varietal by varietal, in stainless steel vats. 40: a high proportion of 40% reserve wines, equally divided between Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, to ensure the fine complexity and indulgence of the Brut Réserve. 10: an average age of 10 years for the reserve wines, extraordinary for Champagne. Taken from the best crus from the best years, the wines placed in reserve are kept for between 5 to15 years, if not more. This maturing time is essential for their refinement and the development of their aromatic range. The Brut Réserve boasts a deep golden hue. Delicate, vivacious and long-lasting bubbles are the result of a long, slow maturing process in chalk cellars. Thanks to 40 % of reserve wines, the blend offers a complex, elegant, voluptuous nose with a touch of freshly baked brioche, rich toasted notes and sun-drenched fruits like mango, apricot and mirabelle plum accented by dried fruits, pistachio and almond. The texture is reminiscent of a crisp layer of nougatine on a velvety cream pastry, filled with plump red plums and ripe cherries. The selection of reserve wines gives the wine lushness. The finish reveals a touch of praline along with vanilla and glazed notes.

Discover the Maison Charles Heidsieck and its fine Champagnes in our online store
Charles Camille Heidsieck was born in 1822, 37 years after his great-uncle founded Champagne Heidsieck et Cie House. The young Charles grew up in an environment where one breathed the air of champagne from an early age. At just 29, he took his destiny into his own hands and founded the Maison Charles Heidsieck , buying 47 crayères in which to vinify the grapes grown by his cousin Ernest Henriot. The 19th Century was the era of great discoveries and Charles immediately revealed himself to be a visionary, innovative and highly intelligent man. He became ambassador of his own Maison and, consequently, of all of France. During his travels, Charles Heidsieck embodied contemporary French glamor and distinguished himself as a free spirit with an innate kindness. Charles was a man with an elegant and clean charm, he conquered America and seduced the bourgeoisie of New York, becoming the legendary "Champagne Charlie" .
More than 160 years after its creation, the Maison remains a family business driven by the enterprising, ambitious and courageous spirit of the founder. The Champagnes Charles Heidsieck enjoys absolute fame. The unique style, characterized by a high percentage of reserve wines, is what gives balance to the Maison's cuvée sans année. The selected grapes give, together with the original Crus, complexity to the final product. Vinified vine by vine, they allow a precise selection of each wine in which one brings its touch of depth, the other its share of softness. The separate vinification allows precision and great refinement in the construction of flavors.
