CHAMPAGNE BLANC DE BLANCS VINTAGE 2006
GRAPE VARIETY
Chardonnay
TASTING NOTES
4 Grands Crus: Cramant, Avize, Oger, Le Mesnil sur Oger, and 1 Premier Cru: Vertus. Aged more than 10 years on the lees. Despite extreme weather conditions, the 2006 harvest was a generous one. The winter was cold with heavy snowfall, followed by several spring storms across May, then stiing heat at the beginning of summer. Record temperatures featured across July, with a cold and rainy August to follow. Finally, a spell of dry, sunny weather in September was particularly helpful for maturing the grapes and ensuring an unexpectedly smooth and generous harvest. Its refined gold color is illuminated by soft green reflections. The generous perlage is amplified by the brightness and liveliness of its composition. On the nose its bouquet is perfectly balanced between elegance and richness. Elegance is expressed by notes of lemon, apple blossom, salted butter and almond; while the richness is expressed through aromas of pastry, which evolve into richer and buttery notes but, at the same time, also in slightly toasted accents. In the mouth it amazes for its incredible pleasantness, freshness and fullness. Delicate initial citrus notes make it crunchy; the texture is dynamic and the finish soft and round. The rich texture is given by a thousandth still young and tense: the refined and elegant effervescence reveals a minerality still evolving.
