Coteaux Champenois
Montgueux
GRAPE VARIETY
Chardonnay
TASTING NOTES
A still wine, unlike Champagne, Coteaux Champenois is one of the three Controlled Designations of Origin in Champagne. Produced from 100% Chardonnay from the Montgueux terroir which is located near Troyes, a French commune of 413 inhabitants in the Aube department in the Grand Est region, halfway between Epernay and Chablis, this Coteaux seduces with its minerality and softness. The ripe grapes are immediately macerated in the press, then the must is quickly transferred into barriques where it ferments, completes the malolactic fermentation and finally refines on its own yeasts for 10 months. In the glass it is of a beautiful golden luminous yellow, while at the nose it amazes for its delicacy and is characterized by ripe fruity notes of black cherry and black currant. Some touches of toasted notes of vanilla and light tobacco. In the mouth it is soft with elegant and velvety tannins. The juicy fruit is also accompanied by nice fresh notes that close with a silky finish. The wine is tasty, intense and very pleasant. Perfect in combination with Toma di Savoia, Saint Félicien with truffles, oysters and scampi, it is preferable to serve it cold at around 10° C. Already very pleasant, this Chardonnay 2019 can also be enjoyed in a few years.
