Chenin Blanc 100%
TASTING NOTES
Wellington is located about 60 km from Cape Town, in the coastal region of the Western Cape, where the terroir positively influences the quality of the Chenin Blanc produced by the Doolhof winery. The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate, which is ideal for the cultivation of grape varieties such as Chenin Blanc, and the fertile, well-drained soils favour the quality of the grapes. The Doolhof vineyards, located at the foot of the Limietberg mountain range, benefit from an altitude that favours slow ripening of the grapes, helping to maintain acidity and develop finer aromas in the wine. Wellington's microclimate, with cooling breezes, ensures excellent ripeness of the Chenin Blanc grapes, resulting in wines with structure, freshness and aromatic complexity. Harvesting is done manually and the must ferments partially in old French oak and stainless steel barrels, then matures on the lees for 3 months. The result is a high quality Chenin Blanc with aromas of tropical fruit, quince, apricots and pears, with a rich and savoury palate, supported by brilliant acidity. This premium clone SN 24 is known to produce very high quality wines with distinctive aromas.
