TASTING NOTES
Tiraki Sauvignon Blanc is a New Zealand white wine known for its fresh and refreshing flavours of citrus, tropical fruit and herbaceous notes. It is generally dry and light, making it a popular choice for pairing with seafood, salads and light dishes. The wine is best enjoyed young and served chilled to fully appreciate its lively acidity and fruity character. Marlborough, located at the northern end of New Zealand's South Island, is the country's largest and most renowned wine region, best known for its distinctive Sauvignon Blanc. Marlborough's terroir, with its unique climate, soil and landscape, creates the perfect conditions for producing vibrant and aromatic wines. The grapes are harvested manually early in the morning, during full ripeness, to avoid the heat. After an initial cold decantation, alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for about twenty days. Approximately 20 per cent of the wine ferments spontaneously in a combination of oak barrels and steel tanks, helping to add complexity, body and texture to the wine. Subsequently, the wine is matured on the lees for five months before bottling. On the nose, aromas of passion fruit, guava, peach, grapefruit and melon give this Sauvignon Blanc a unique concentration and elegance. In the mouth, notes of tropical fruit give the wine weight and structure, adding complexity to a long and persistent finish.

Tiraki Discover Tiraki in New Zealand and its fine wines in our online store The Hammond family, owners of Tiraki Wines, have a long history in New Zealand's Marlborough region. Their family estate, Longfield Farm, was purchased in 1870 and has been managed by six generations of the Hammond family for the past 150 years. Initially focused on traditional farming, the estate has evolved and now includes extensive vineyards of fine grapes such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The name 'Tiraki' comes from the Maori word for 'clearing of the sky', symbolising new beginnings and optimism. This cultural heritage and connection to the land are at the heart of the Hammond family's approach to viticulture. The Tiraki winery in Marlborough is a family business with a long tradition of producing high quality wines. The region is renowned for Sauvignon Blanc, thanks to the cool climate and long sunny days favourable for growing aromatic grapes. The gravel and sand soils favour the growth of grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, but also Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling. The Marlborough wineries are distinguished by their sustainability and production of high quality wines. With a combination of tradition and innovation, the Tiraki winery is a landmark for wine lovers looking for unforgettable wine experiences.
