TASTING NOTES
Saudoni is a district in Lapio, Avellino. Laura De Vito is passionate about zoning and has chosen to follow the Cru route for her wines in the cellar. Therefore, this wine is named Li Sauruni after the district where the grapes are grown. The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 600 m above sea level, making it the highest vineyard on the estate. The 2021 vintage in Irpinia was the driest in the last 15 years, with only 520 mm of rainfall. Despite the low rainfall and above-average temperatures during the summer, the grapes were in excellent condition. They had optimal sugar concentrations and balanced pH and acidity. Additionally, they presented an interesting endowment of aromatic precursors, which will undoubtedly result in wines of great profile and quality. The Fiano grapes from the Li Sauruni vineyard are harvested by hand starting in the second week of October. The bunches are then immediately taken to the cellar and gently pressed. The juice is fermented in thermoregulated steel tanks and then matured for 9 months in steel. After bottling, Li Sauruni is aged in the bottle for at least 20 months before release. This wine has hints of pear, apricot, lime, and light smoky notes that are gracefully enhanced by the long ageing. Each wine from a single vineyard of Laura De Vito is unique and characteristic.
