TASTING NOTES
The 2020 vintage was a year with the highest average temperatures throughout the period, although no significant temperature peaks were detected. The winter was rainy and this guaranteed an excellent water reserve that supported the plants throughout the hot and dry spring / summer. Early budding, early flowering, early ripening led to a harvest that began at the end of September, therefore about two weeks earlier than the company average. We owe the high quality of the grapes, absolutely healthy and physiologically ripe, in particular to the very hot, sunny and dry September climate which also gave cool nights, for a perfect aromatic development. A balanced, intense Riesling with fruity notes: a single glass is never enough Dry Riesling with high minerality and complexity at the same time extremely fine and elegant. Its characteristics derive from the stony-grainy soil that characterizes the vineyard where the grapes used are produced. The steep soils facing south-west are in fact characterized by rocks dating back to the geological period of the Devonian (colored slate) and Pre-Devonian (phyllite and gneiss), interspersed with silty areas. The name Klosterberg (German: monastery mountain) derives from the ancient path, the so-called Klosterweg (literally, monastery path), which crosses the vineyards and connects the ancient Cistercian abbey of Kloster Eberbach to the Municipality of Kiedrich..
