TASTING NOTES
The Pinot Grigio cultivated in South Tyrol has different characteristics depending on the region. It can be fiery with fruity aromas or with mineral notes and hints of lime blossom. Renon, in the province of Bolzano, is famous for the production of Pinot Grigio on warm, alluvial and gravelly soils, resulting in wines with smoky aromas and a robust structure. The 2023 vintage faced extreme weather conditions, including early bud break, dry months, a cool spring, a wet summer and heat peaks in July and August. Despite the challenges, the harvest eventually experienced the long-awaited dry autumn, with warm days and cool nights. However, the wet weather caused problems for winegrowers. The constant humidity forced great care to be taken to avoid damage. The white wines of the 2023 vintage should be fresh, bright, fruity and light. The grapes are carefully selected and softly pressed before undergoing alcoholic fermentation in tanks. In the glass, this Pinot Grigio 2023 Winzerberg has a brilliant straw yellow colour with golden yellow hues. The aroma is fruity, with distinct notes of pear and apple, complemented by subtle hints of honey and hazelnut, which add warmth and depth. The taste is full-bodied, pleasant and rich in extracts. This wine goes well with mushroom dishes, tasty fish dishes, seafood or traditional South Tyrolean specialities.

Guido Folonari has always been in love with Südtirol, its wines, vineyards and landscapes. Right there in South Tyrol he has decided to realize his last winemaking dream called Winzerberg (Winegrowers' Mountain). Folonari has selected five small winemakers, owners of as many vineyard, with totally different “terroirs”. South Tyrol is a small jewel of the Italian wine scene, with a truly unique pedoclimatic environment, where wines of extreme elegance and complexity are born. The love for the care of the vineyard and the skillful hand of Stephan Filippi, a South Tyrolean winemaker with a great personality, have given life to seven wines that reflect the character and origin of the territory.
