TASTING NOTES
The Weissburgunder Pinot Bianco Alto Adige 2024 represents an oenological excellence that fully reflects the character of the South Tyrolean terroir. This mountainous region, with vineyards situated between 400 and 700 metres above sea level, offers ideal conditions for cultivating Pinot Blanc. The calcareous, clay, and gravelly soils ensure excellent drainage, contributing to balanced vine growth and imparting pronounced minerality and freshness to the wine. South Tyrol's climate, characterised by significant temperature variations between day and night, combines sunny days influenced by the Mediterranean climate with cool nights due to mountain winds. This thermal contrast allows the grapes to develop intense aromas whilst maintaining lively acidity, an essential element for the balance and freshness of this wine. The 2024 vintage was challenging for winegrowers due to a cool and rainy spring that delayed ripening, followed by a hot summer and autumn rains. However, thanks to the expertise of South Tyrolean producers, the grapes achieved excellent quality, resulting in delicate and fresh white wines. The grapes undergo careful selection and gentle pressing before alcoholic fermentation in vats. In the glass, this 2024 Pinot Blanc from Winzerberg presents a brilliant straw-yellow colour with greenish reflections. The aroma is fruity, with notes of yellow apple, pear, peach, and hints of pineapple. The taste is fresh, pleasant, and rich in extracts. This wine pairs well as an aperitif, with asparagus, fish and shellfish dishes such as spaghetti allo scoglio, vegetarian dishes, or traditional South Tyrolean specialities. Pinot Blanc has found its ideal habitat in South Tyrol thanks to the unique combination of altitude, climate, and soils. With the Weissburgunder Pinot Bianco Alto Adige 2024, one can appreciate an elegant wine, perfect for those seeking a refined white that best expresses the characteristics of the Alpine terroir.
