PINOT GRIGIO RESERVE
Alsazia Appellation d'origine contrôlée
GRAPE VARIETY
Pinot Grigio 100%
TASTING NOTES
The Pinot Gris grapes that give life to this reserve grow on the long slopes and hills surrounding the village of Bergheim. Clay and limestone residues predominate in the composition of this soil. Pinot Gris is also a grape that needs harsh climates, and the large temperature fluctuations make it particularly fragrant. In Alsace, the rainfall in 2022 was particularly low as early as spring, and in fact the average bunch weight is below the ten-year average. Moreover, thanks to the moderate temperatures, the harvest was early, but with grapes rich in extracts and perfectly ripe. These climatic conditions meant that Pinot Grigio 2022 was decidedly full-bodied and less aromatic, making it perfect as an all meal wine. In the glass, it is bright yellow gold. In this wine, aromas of sweet pear merge with a fresh saline scent. The palate is characterised by a creamy, slightly waxy texture that is not typical, but which counterpoints a savoury note of mature cheese and leads to a long, savoury finish. Pinot Gris is a very versatile wine, in fact it can be enjoyed with a very rich aperitif, with hot first courses, foie-gras, grilled meat, medium-fat cheeses and, finally, it can accompany fresh fruit. As a reminder, Alsace is a French wine excellence, but it also holds the record for the country's greenest region. The numbers speak for themselves: 10% of the areas are treated with sexual confusion (a technique that eliminates the use of insecticides), 25% of the areas are BIO certified to which is added a further 50% undergoing Haute Valeur Environnementale level 3 certification.

In Alsace, more precisely in the village of Bergheim, the Lorentz family has been involved in wine production for 250 years . In fact, in 1863 Charles Lorentz founded the winery moved by an incredible passion for the wine world. The vineyards are located on the hills of Altenberg de Bergheim and Kanzlerberg . It is thanks to a great passion handed down from generation to generation that the company still maintains very high quality levels today. According to the production philosophy, the essence of the wines is the result of the intimate and close relationship between vines, territory and climate. Currently the property includes 33 hectares and is entrusted to the sixth generation of the Lorentz family. Riesling , Pinot Grigio , Gewürztraminer and other varieties in the Altenberg hills express their typicality, year after year. The recognition for this perseverance took place in 1983, with the classification of these vineyards as " Gran Cru ".
