TASTING NOTES
The Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2021 Magnum by Antonella Corda embodies the refinement and authenticity of the Sardinian territory. This Magnum format not only enhances the organoleptic characteristics of the wine but also serves as an ideal choice for convivial occasions and for those who desire a wine that evolves further over time. The 2021 vintage benefited from a particularly favourable climate, characterized by a mild and breezy Mediterranean atmosphere, which allowed the grapes to mature optimally. This resulted in an elegant Cannonau with a fresh aromatic profile and a well-balanced structure. The wine is produced at the Serdiana estate in southern Sardinia, on calcareous-pebbly soils that impart a distinct minerality and finesse to the Cannonau. The winery, managed by Antonella Corda, is distinguished by its respect for terroir and the use of sustainable techniques. Cannonau is the emblematic grape variety of Sardinia, known for its ability to express aromatic intensity and smoothness. The grapes used for this wine are cultivated with low yields to ensure concentration and quality. The result is a fresh yet complex Cannonau, featuring typical notes of ripe red fruits, sweet spices, and Mediterranean aromas. Its colour is an intense ruby red, with bright reflections that highlight its liveliness. On the nose, one can perceive aromas of red fruits such as cherry, blackberry, and blackcurrant, accompanied by delicate spicy notes of white pepper and herbaceous hints from the Mediterranean scrub. The palate is full and velvety, with soft and well-integrated tannins. The freshness balances the alcohol content (14%), providing a long and harmonious finish. The Magnum format (1.5 litres) is not just an aesthetic choice but also a technical one. Due to the greater ratio between the volume of wine and the oxygen present in the bottle, wine in Magnum evolves more slowly compared to standard formats (750 ml). This allows the Cannonau 2021 to develop greater complexity over time while maintaining its freshness. Furthermore, the Magnum format is perfect for special occasions or gatherings, as it emphasizes the convivial aspect of wine. Antonella Corda has transformed her family heritage into a "boutique winery," combining tradition with innovation. A descendant of the Argiolas family, Antonella stands out for her commitment to environmental sustainability and the enhancement of indigenous grape varieties. This Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2021 Magnum represents not only a great wine but also a unique experience to share, ideal for those seeking elegance and authenticity in a special format.
