KELLERBERG
Wachau

TASTING NOTES
The Dürnsteiner Kellerberg is the paragon for a top single vineyard in the winegrowing region Wachau. Manual cared vines are grown on south-eastern facing terraces made with natural stone walls. The soil is dominated by Orthogneiss. A long vegetation period caused by cool airstreams during nights is resulting in a late harvest. This microclimatic combination is creating wines combining refinement and power in a matchless kind. The age of vines is 35 years, and are harvested by hand at the end of October Fermentation and maturation that lasts 8-9 months take place partly in stainless steel and big oak casks (12-15hl). A still shy nose is not ready to give up its secrets easily, despite much swirling and air. It is the palate that lifts the veil on the citric depth and intensity at the heart of this wine. Tangerine and lemon seem to emanate from a deep, stony, steely and cool depth. That citrus heart is concentrated and seems to draw on a boundless energy that drives it forward with purpose. This is beautiful, chiseled and unbelievably vivid. Drink between 2025–2050.

Discover Cantina Pichler-Krutzler in the Wachau region and its fine wines in our online store
In 2006 Elisabeth Pichler and Erich Krutzler founded their winery in the Wachau region. Both come from families belonging to the wine world, they have created together unique wines with a noble soul, based on respect for nature, through sustainable viticulture. Pichler-Krutzler wines reflect the territory from which they come. These are wines harvested, refined and bottled without any assembly. The vineyards, mainly Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, extend over stone terraces and can only be cultivated by hand. This is where a particular microclimate is created, influenced by the front, by the mild temperatures of Pannonia from the east by the cold winds that blow down from the valleys. The Wachau region, where these unique and quality wines are born, is in fact a real jewel recognized as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
