TASTING NOTES
L'Alta Langa Rosé DOCG "L'Istinto" by Roberto Garbarino is a vintage Classic Method sparkling wine produced from selected Pinot Noir grapes. These grapes are sourced from vineyards located at approximately 480 meters above sea level, facing east, and are planted in calcareous-marl soils with sandy components. Roberto Garbarino is a young oenologist who, after gaining experience both in the Langhe region and abroad, decided to create high-quality sparkling wines in the Neviglie area. Since 2013, he has been producing Alta Langa DOCG Extra Brut and Rosé, as well as Moscato d’Asti DOCG. Garbarino's estate spans nearly 11 hectares, managed with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability by avoiding herbicides and chemical fertilizers while minimizing the use of pesticides. "L'Istinto Rosé" is crafted in Neviglie, within the Alta Langa region, which is particularly suited for producing high-quality sparkling wines. The vineyards are situated on a south-facing slope at an average altitude of around 450 meters, benefiting from a cool and dry climate that is ideal for creating elegant sparkling wines. This Classic Method sparkling wine is a single-varietal Pinot Noir. The vinification process involves manual grape selection, followed by approximately 6 hours of maceration and gentle pressing. The first fermentation occurs in steel tanks at 14°C, followed by bottle fermentation for one month at the same temperature. The wine matures in the bottle for at least 30 months, extending up to 40 months, with periodic remuage. Visually, it presents a pale pink hue with salmon reflections and a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, it offers citrus aromas with hints of red apple and pink grapefruit, finishing with notes of bread crust. On the palate, it is mineral, well-balanced, with significant structure and remarkable persistence. Roberto Garbarino began his venture in 2013, becoming the smallest producer in Alta Langa. Together with Beatrice, he expanded the vineyard area to nearly 11 hectares by acquiring an additional 4 hectares of Alta Langa land in 2022.
