TASTING NOTES
The vineyard that produces the grapes for this Brunello di Montalcino is situated on the eastern side of the town of Montalcino, at an altitude of 260 - 280 metres above sea level. The soil is of the 'Ruscinian and with Villafranchian deposits', which are clayey with conglomerate and gravel of continental and lacustrine origin. of continental and lacustrine origin, and has a reddish colour. Sangiovese is the only grape variety used. The yield per hectare is 6,000 kg of grapes, with a planting density of 4,500 plants/hectare. At the beginning of October the grapes are harvested by hand. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Maceration lasts 2 days at 10°C, followed by 10-12 days at 25-28°C during and after fermentation. Malolactic fermentation takes place in cemented vats. The wine is then aged for 24-28 months in 20 - 30 HL oak barrels, before being refined in the bottle for a further 10 months. The San Filippo dei Comunali Brunello di Montalcino 2019 has a ruby red colour with a slight garnet tinge. The nose is intense and complex. Amarena cherry dominates the bouquet. On the palate it is full-bodied, harmonious and persistent, with dense and silky tannins.
