TASTING NOTES
Lagrein is a grape variety that is native to South Tyrol and grows beautifully in the Bolzano basin and Gries district. The vineyards, which are over 80 years old and located at around 300m above sea level, benefit from the temperature fluctuations between day and night and the sandy alluvial soils. This results in a complex wine with vibrant colours and a characteristic freshness. The 2023 harvest in South Tyrol was affected by extreme weather conditions. However, the constant humidity required meticulous attention and work in the vineyard. The harvested grapes were slightly larger and had lower sugar content compared to previous years, resulting in fresher aromas. The grapes ripened perfectly in September thanks to the fluctuating day-night temperatures. The wine underwent alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, which helped to preserve its varietal aromas. The resulting wine has an intense ruby red colour with violet reflexes. It has a broad and energetic bouquet with fruity and floral notes and a typical cocoa finish.
